‎Were it not for Love, or the lack thereof, Literature, Poetry and Rock & Roll would not exist.

Levni Yilmaz

This is what turning 23 feels like.

Under the sheepish admission that I might be off the mark (or too cynical), I don’t think it’s possible to earn a living as a “writer” anymore. In terms of making money, unless you’ve got a genius novel marinating in your mind, writing is a skill best used to complement your skills in fields like business or marketing. You might have a flair for clever metaphors, but no one is going to care unless they can exploit your skills for dollars. You’ll make more cash writing a five word advertising slogan than a five thousand word fiction story.

Don’t be afraid to be confused. Try to remain permanently confused. Anything is possible. Stay open, forever, so open it hurts, and then open up some more, until the day you die, world without end, amen.
